History
Get to Know Us
A determined group of Swedish immigrants officially formed our church on December 27, 1873, by Pastor Eric Norelius. It took five years to save enough funds to build a church. Slowly but surely, a small country church grew. In 1962, they built an educational addition to the church. Our strong congregation supports many local and global missions to this day. Today we welcome all individuals to visit and worship with us each Sunday morning to grow in faith and love for each other and our neighbors, across the road and across the globe.

FROM PASTOR BOETTCHER
I’m Charles (CJ) Boettcher and I serve as pastor at Cross of Christ in Welch, MN, and Cannon River in Cannon Falls, MN. I am originally from Appleton, Wisconsin, and hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in Water Resources and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary. I have served congregations previously in Upsala and Cloquet, MN. As a pastor, I am passionate about embracing the tough questions and exploring faith that takes struggle seriously. An active life of faith should not require us to turn off our brains or not be honest about our doubts. I believe profoundly in the grace and love of God for all people and in honoring the diversity in which we are created. The image of God stamped upon us is not one size fits all! I have two beautiful
